Multiplayer games continue to be the most popular type of video game on any console, including PC. Similarly, the Battle Royale genre keeps expanding its wings to some well-known games like Call of Duty. There are plenty of PS4 games that continue to rise in popularity; our list below features the best PS4 games of 2020 that weren’t necessarily launched this year.
It includes popular titles like Fortnite or CoD as well as some lesser-known games that are just as good.
1. Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 2
2. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019)
Continuing with the Battle Royale trend, the newest version of Call of Duty also includes the mode but calls it Call of Duty: Warzone. It features 150 players fighting each other alone or in teams of 2-3 players. It was only released recently on March 10 but has already become extremely popular, and it is now on the top 2 alongside League of Legends. The looting is quite simple in comparison to most battle royales, but everything else is similar. As usual, the new version includes the classic Campaign mode.
3. Nioh 2
Launched this March 12, Nioh is an RPG and prequel to Nioh made exclusively for the PS4. Similar to the last game, players can create their character, summon other AI-controlled players, equip hundreds of different weapons and even transform. Nioh 2 has a three-player co-op mode. One of the main criticisms of the last game was its difficulty, and many were concerned that Nioh 2 would be just as hard or even harder. The team of Nioh 2 responded to the concerns by adjusting the difficulty level of some missions, enemies, and more.
4. ZOMBIE ARMY 4: DEAD WAR
One of the few tactical shooters and survival horror games out there. As the name indicates, you will have to fight an army of zombies in third-person on Single or Multiplayer modes. The game is set in the year 1946 just one year after the death of Adolf Hitler. If you enjoyed the previous games, then you will very likely enjoy this one as the game itself hasn’t changed that much. Some people would characterize the game as a brain dead horror action game, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing if it’s what you enjoy.
5. Darksiders Genesis
If you though the Hack n Slash genre was dead, you were mistaken. Darksiders Genesis is your classic Diablo-like game and a spin-off in the Darksiders series. The game has all the features of good Hack n Slash games with the addition of the Creature Core tree. Enemies can sometimes drop a piece of their soul that can be used to increase stats and other perks. The combat in Darksiders Genesis is not brainless and will require some strategy to be victorious. Again, if you have played other Darksiders games, keep in mind that this new version is nothing like the previous games.
This concludes our list of best PlayStation games in 2020. Multiplayer games are still the winners, but some singleplayer video games are worth checking out.
